Blog Assignment 7- The Outcome of the Civil War

This blog assignment is purely an opinion question but I want you to take some time to really think about it before you answer. Today in class we began discussing the battles and events of the Civil War. We learned about how at the Battle of Antietam Robert E. Lee's plans were discovered which kept him from taking Washington D.C. and ending the war. This is just one example in the many turn of events that could have changed the outcome of the Civil War. In at least 5 sentences I want you to tell me how our country's history might have been different if the South had won the Civil War. Think about what happened as a result of the war: the end of slavery and Lincoln's assassination are just two things to consider. So put some thought into your answer. Don't forget to put your name and class period at the end of your post.

  1. I think that if the South had won the war, then later on the North would have tried to start another war. Or maybe the North would have just given in, and there would still be slavery today. As the result of the Civil War, there is no more slavery in America. And today, because of the Civil War, slavery is illegal. Now if someone wants someone else to do there work, you have to pay them and they have to agree. Another event that happened because of the war is Abraham Lincoln's assassination. He was killed by an actor from the North who did not, at all, like Abraham Lincoln, and also wanted to be more popular and famous in the North.

  3. I think that if the South had won the war, then slavery would still be here today. Since the North had won the war, I believe that this was a result in Lincoln's death. Maybe if the South had won the war then Lincoln may not have been assassinated. Also, if the South had won the war, then slavery may be orginized differently. It could even be possible that the South would have given up slavery without a war.

  4. If the South had won the war, the North would've either made its own country, try to find another way, or given in. An event of the Civil War is because of the Civil War, there is no more slavery in America. If you have a maid or something, they aren't your slave because you pay them and they don't pay you. Another event is when Abraham Lincoln is assassinated by John Wilkes Booth. Booth thought that if he shot Abraham Lincoln, everyone in the South would praise him. Even though John Booth was from the North.

  5. If the South had won the Civil War, many things would be different. Today, white people would probably still look down on black people. Also, slavery would have been around much longer. President Lincoln might have stayed in the White House and not have gone to the Ford's Theater and would not have been killed. Lastly, the U.S. would be two seperate countries.

  7. I think that this had a good effect on America. If it didnt happen there might still be slavery today.America right now might not be one country Aif it didnt happen. The assassination of Abraham Lincoln did not really help the differences. It just fueled the fire and it just caused a lot more trouble. 8. I think dropping the sugar was bad. Another one is that the comander gave all the soldiers a plan. If the soldier didnt drop it we wouldnt be free now. Joshua Hughes 3rd period

  9. If the south had won the war things would probaly be different. The North might have started another war and things would of been worst!!! If the South would have won we still might have slaverly. It also might have been worse abuse. I think if the South had won we might still be fighting!!!
