On Friday we covered a current event in class over the rising tensions between Iran and the United States. Iran claims it is planning to enrich Uranium to make nuclear energy but the U.S. believes it intends to make nuclear weapons. We used this topic to lead into our first formal debate of the year. The question we debated in class today was, "Should the U.S. be able to tell other countries they should not have nuclear weapons.?" I hope everyone was able to give their own opinion but also be open enough to listen to the opinions of others. Your assignment is to write a 3-5 sentence comment on this post. Your comment should include your final opinion to the question above and why you believe that. Remember to be respectful and honor one another's thoughts. Yes I think that the U.S. should be able to tell other countries they shouldn't use nuclear weapons because we are a free country. We can say whatever we want. They may not listen but we can still tell them they can't have the weapons.

Yes, I think the U.S. should be able to tell other countries that they should not use nuclear weapons. If one country fires a nuclear weapon at another country, many people and cities would be destroyed. The U.S. is a world leader and should have the authority to help control the safety of the world and our country.

Yes, I they shouldn't because people can die for nothing. Also nuclear weapons can be dangerous if use at the wrong time. Country's don't have to listen to the U.S. , but they could die and will be their fault.

Yes I think the U.S. should be able to tell them that they cannot use nuclear weapons. They are power weapons. Some other countries cannot handle the responsibility. The U.S. is a very powerful country and those weapons help us with that power. We do not just go around using them we use them wisely.

No, because even though the U.S. is a strong country it does not have the right. To tell another country they can not have nuclear power is not fair. They could use it for weapons, but they could use it for good use.

No, I don't think we have the right to say that other countries can't have nuclear weapons. We have nuclear weapons, so we shouldn't say they can't. We don't even own the country, so we can't tell them what to do.

Yes,we should tell people not to use nuclear weapons. Nuclaer weapons are very harmful and dangerous. Some counties will not listen to us but we would of warned them.

NO, just because were a big country does not mean we have the right 2 tell other countries not 2 use nuclear weapons. WE have nuclear weapons . it is more of thier country than ours!

No, I think even though we are a free countrey we dont need to do that. But at the same time I think we can because they need to be safe.
ReplyDeleteYes, the United States has the right to ask that other countries not have nuclear weapons, but the other countries are free not to listen. We are not in charge of other countries. They have to be in charge of themselves.

it think we should not tell people what to do. it is nuclear power we are talking about but if we have and we tell people to not have then we should not use them too. That is what is right and our biggest problem is Iran right now so lets settle with them and take some of our weapons away.
